Curriculum & Instruction

We provide a balanced instructional model based on the latest research-based strategies and programs. Latona believes in supporting all students in their learning. We differentiate instruction in supporting English learners.  We are guided by the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) which are tested yearly by the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC). Our scores have been improving yearly and our school has received a Certificate of Appreciation from the district in recognition of Significant Growth (top 33% of Local District East Schools) in Language Arts and Math. We continue to improve our students’ capacity for success in all content areas in preparation for their success in the 21st-century employment market and as productive, an integral part of the global society.  

This year Latona's focus is on Mathematics. In order to prepare for this year's focus, teachers and students have been working diligently on 3 phase Math Lessons weekly.  We at Latona feel that through discussion and strategic math exercises we can empower the students to perform with more confidence and raise their mathematics scores.
